As you may know, Poudre School District returned to remote learning on November 23. Countless students now are struggling due to the drastic shift towards remote learning in classrooms. Many students experience difficulty with remote learning due to a variety of serious situations. United Way of Larimer County assumed coordination from the Bohemian Foundation in seeking volunteers to serve as tutors for both in-person and remote-learning situations.
What they need right now are “awesome volunteers to tutor high school students in various subjects.”
Below is a list of what United Way is looking for in volunteers to tutor PSD students:

-
Immediate need for volunteer tutors for high school students. “We are recruiting for all age groups, but our efforts will be focused on prioritizing high school tutors first.”
-
All subjects needed, but a high need for tutoring in math, science, and English.
-
Volunteers with experience in bilingual English and Spanish and in supporting English Language Learners are needed to teach various subjects as well.

-
Virtual or in-person (at community-based sites) options are possible.
-
Scheduling can be flexible, but a regular commitment would be ideal, Monday through Thursday; various time options available between 8am-4pm.
-
A general background check is required before you begin volunteering.
-
Currently their most pressing need is in-person volunteer tutoring at Poudre High School. Soon, they will extend this program to other schools in the county as there is high demand for this level of service.
